MAXIME DESMONS was raised in Montargis, France in a family of butchers. He escaped the family tradition and in 1996 graduated from the Strasbourg National Theatre School. He acted on stage in France & Quebec and also appeared in award-winning features of French directors (Pascale Ferran, Eric Forestier, Cédric Kahn). He also directed stage plays in Paris and at the Rome Biennale before immigrating to Canada in 2003 to pursue his dreams and creative aspirations. In 2007 he directed his first short film BAGGAGE that was acquired by CBC. BONNE MÈRE, his second short, was selected for the 2008 Berlin International Film Festival and SOMEBODY IS WATCHING US has toured the international film festival circuit. In 2008, He graduated from the Canadian Film Center Director’s Lab. At the CFC, he directed a short musical drama titled D’UNE RIVE À L’AUTRE.

Maxime has just completed his first feature, WHAT WE HAVE, which is the story of a French tutor in Northern Ontario forced to confront his own cryptic past when he encounters a young gay student who is being bullied in school.

MAXIME DESMONS échappe à la tradition familiale d’artisans bouchers pour devenir acteur. Diplômé du Théâtre National de Strasbourg, il joue différents auteurs de Bond à Shakespeare. Au cinéma, il tourne sous la direction de Cédric Kahn, Pascale Ferran, Eric Forestier. Maxime écrit et met en scène La pièce juste à côté et Ici ou Ailleurs. Il émigre au Canada en 2003 pour réaliser ses rêves : écrire et réaliser des films. En 2004, il écrit une nouvelle Le Pied Beau grâce au soutien du Conseil des Arts de Toronto. En 2006, son premier court Baggage est programmé sur CBC, puis arrive Bonne Mère sélectionné au Festival International du film de Berlin 2008. Somebody Is Watching Us tourne  les Festivals LGBT. Cette même année, il est diplômé du Canadian Film Centre et D’une Rive à L’Autre est sélectionné au Festival International de Cork 09 (parmi 25 autres sélections internationales)

Maxime vient de réaliser, produire et jouer dans son premier long-Métrage WHAT WE HAVE (CE QU’ON A) : L’exploration d’un immigrant français au Canada, Maurice, un homme prisonnier de son passé et incapable d’extérioriser ses peurs et de se confier à une communauté qui pourtant semble lui tendre les bras.
